Scales on a Snake tutorial
In Part 1 of this tutorial we went through the basic steps of learning how to draw scales. First on a flat surface for the most basic principles and then on a cylinder, to examine perspective and curvature. Then in Part 2 I applied those basic ideas on a simple body shape, that of a koi fish.
So here is a more advanced tutorial of use of scales on a snake, a body shape that twists and turns and needs a little bit of extra care when drawing them. So don't waste time, hit the video below and start practising!
I hope this miniseries of tutorials was helpful and made you a lot more confident when it comes to covering your artwork with scales. And don't forget, all it takes is practice and patience!
